2Nothing but problems  Jul 28, 2010 By Joe Menthol
I needed something really small for a custom project and mini-itx was actually too big. This board seemed to fit the bill, but so far I have not been able to get it to work at all.

Got everything hooked up and powered on; at first boot the BIOS splash screen showed but then locked up and didn't do anything else. On restart no video signal. I double-checked all the jumpers, cleared the CMOS, made sure all the connections were good, removed all unneeded components, but it was no use. Tried the RCA and S-Video options but no luck there either. The heatsink fan would spin and if I connected a drive it would spin up/make noise, but no video signal and no BIOS beep codes. Fiddled with it for about 3 hours trying different things, but nothing.

The only thing I didn't try at this point was reseating the RAM. This is a huge pain because the RAM installs flat under one side of the processor heatsink with clips that do NOT want to be removed and are hard to manipulate. I finally couldn't think of anything else to try so I gave it a shot. Out of curiosity, after I got the heatsink off I removed the RAM and tried to boot it; it gave BIOS beep errors for no RAM (which it should have) so I was hopeful the board wasn't dead. I reseated the ram, booted, and got the BIOS splash screen again! Hooray!... except it locked up again the same way it did initially. Tried rebooting, back to no video signal. Further reseating of the RAM has not fixed the video signal problem since.

I checked all over the board looking for physical damage or some kind of short but have found nothing. I'm at a loss.

Support is a joke. There's no printed manual, no useful instructions, just some generic warnings and some leaflets that weren't even for my model. Had to go to VIAs website to find anything and even then the PDF I found there was very minimal and didn't offer any kind of troubleshooting tips or advice. There's virtually no community for these boards either, so if you have a problem like I did you are basically SOL.

1Not good  Jun 03, 2011 By Carlos Rivera "dreme323"
Had high hopes for this board..... until i found out the graphics chip is no good.Installation of hardware was a breeze, but software is a true nightmare. Had to do a lot of searching just to find manual online there is no documents included with board except one that has a pic of board and pin layout and it says (board may look like board pictured)? Ok that sucks. So after hours of searching i found some information and got everything runing. installed windows 7 and it runs everything except VIDEO no youtube,no netflix,no DVD nothing Evrything stutters horribly with no Audio so i tried everything to get it to run updates different players nothing worked. So i install Ubuntu same story and VLC player will not run on this board weird. I got a message saying it did not support active x9 again i tried everything but nothing worked and what did work worked slowly. So i tried windows xp what do you know BSOD could not even install OS i tried different hard drives and removing anything not needed to install OS. But XP caused BSOD with this board over and over again and the worst part is that all drivers on website are for windows xP which i could not get installed i even tried different XP discs same story. Disappointing price is way too high for what you are getting and no support for newer software. Unfortunately this board should be retired.
