TS32GSSD25-S (32GB IDE SLC version) Oct 06, 2010
By Tech Guy I installed this drive into a vintage 2005 Mac mini G4 (1.42GHz) and installed Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard). The machine now boots in about 40 seconds with SSD vs. 47 seconds for the factory hard drive.
AJA System Test gives the following results:
Write: 69.4 MB/s
Read: 77.3 MB/s
The original drive read/write was about 20 MB/s.
I'm very pleased with the upgrade and plan to use the mini as a very reliable server; the speed is a bonus.
It's worth pointing out that there are two versions of this drive--one uses MLC flash, the other uses SLC flash. Transcend recommends using the SLC version for OS installations.
