| | Description | This innovative brain health workbook has sold over 2.5 million copies globally! Dr. Kawashima, a prominent neurologist in Japan, developed this program of daily simple math calculations that can help boost your brain power, improve your memory, and stave off the mental effects of aging. The exercises in this book have even been shown to help those suffering from Alzheimer’s. The idea, Dr. Kawashima says, is to "work out the brain much like we work out the rest of our bodies. It has long been known that regular exercise helps slow the deterioration of our muscles, and the same is true for our brains." | |

it's working for me... Dec 09, 2005
By Pittsburgh Steeler

i'm absolutely remembering more, and feel sharper. the log in the back shows me that i'm remembering between 4 and 5 words more on the word test, and i'm getting faster at all the exercises. i'm almost a whiz at dinner calculating the tip. new ground for me!
i have another two weeks left in the book - and i'll probably buy another. overall - highly recommended.

Wonderful Book for Elders Feb 24, 2007
By Arline Curtiss I'm sorry I didn't run across this book two years ago when it first came out. I'm a board-certified cognitive therapist and although my expertise is in depression where I use exercises to re-wire the brain out of depressive episodes and which inspired my own book BRAINSWITCH OUT OF DEPRESSION, this book is wonderful for maintaining an already healthy brain and mind and can be helpful to anybody.

Simple but effective Dec 04, 2009

I'm not quiet 1/2 way through the book yet; however, the exercises are very simple...almost childlike, but I've noticed that I am processing information faster and my retention appears to have improved. Sort of lends credence to that the simplest solutions are sometimes the best when attacking complicated problems.
