4longest serial cable I could find  Jul 18, 2010 By Gopher Baroque "GB"
This is a pretty basic part that I got to extend the ASUS motherboard connector at the front edge to a port on the backside of the case. Most cables are pretty short; this was the longest one I could find as a ready-to-use item. It is just long enough to span the distance in a semi-tidy routing. I would rather it were a few inches longer, but the main thing was to connect some "legacy" radio gear with having to source the individual parts. So this part worked fine to get that task done.

5Good Serial Port  Nov 25, 2010 By Robert Wurzburg
This is a well-made add-on rear case plate for a serial port. I used it with an ASUS P4P800 SE motherboard that
doesn't have a serial port in the rear port I/O like most motherboards.

It's also possible to use as an added second serial port on motherboards that provide a IDC10 header to connect
this plate to, like some are equipped with. Cable length and connector quality are excellent. Highly recommend.

5Works great  Apr 17, 2011 By Dave Miller
Had to buy this because I needed a serial port. Motherboard has only the 10-pin internal socket. This unit installed in 5 minutes and gave me what I needed: Linux found the device attached to the port upon restart.

I like that the flat cable is plenty long. Should install in just about any motherboard/case combination.

ATTN newbies: always power off your system before installing a PCI or other internal card. This ain't USB.

Also, find or download your MB/system user's manual and get familiar with the BIOS setup. There's nothing hard about the physical installation of devices like this -- unless space is a problem -- but they do _not_ "just work," the motherboard has to "turn them on" at boot time and then tell the operating system (1) they exist and (2) how to communicate with them.

5Longest serial cable I found find  Feb 16, 2011 By Martin Gordon
I have an ASUS MB and I needed a really long serial cable for it, but no one seems to carrying anything longer than 12". Searching though Amazon I came across this and purchased it, this was exactly what I needed, the 12" barely reached the serial connection on the MB, when I went to clean out the PC after a few months the 12" was unplugged. It was then I realized this 12" serial cable would not work and replaced it with this 16".

4Works well enough  Jul 20, 2011 By pfausette
Your not going to be impressed with the quality but product works as intended. These are not popular so there are not a lot of manufactures of it.
