Money well spent, though may pose some problems during installation for beginners Mar 06, 2010
By Shiinoru Yoruichi I bought one of these cards off Ebay for $45 even, and am glad I made the purchase. I needed it to replace the subpar onboard graphics of a Dell Optiplex GX260, which only has an AGP port. Along with this card, I also bought a replacement power supply, since this card requires external power. The box states that a minimum of 300W is needed, so I bought a 430W Thermaltake PSU I found on this site for around $40.
To help alleviate some possible frustrations, I will outline what I did to get my PC up and running with my new card. All of this was running under Windows XP Media Center 2005.
1. When you first plug it into your motherboard and boot up your PC, your monitor may not fire up. This is what happened to me, so I first shut off my PC to unplug it, then restarted it without it installed. Once on, I uninstalled the Intel drivers for the onboard graphics chipset, and restarted.
2. Once it began to boot-up, I immediately went into the System Setup (press F2 as the computer boots), and changed the AGP setting from the default 128MB to 256MB. Now, I've reheard on various forums that others have had problems with the monitor not booting as I did, and it was recommended to them to uninstall the onboard graphic drivers OR change the AGP setting. I am not entirely sure which of these two actually solved the problem, since I simply changed both, but you can try for yourself and see. Once done, I shut off my PC and reinserted the card. My PC then booted up fine.
3. To get my card working properly, I then installed the Catalyst AGP hotfix from the Sapphire website. The normal ATI drivers won't work, and at the time of this writing, the ATI site automatically points you to the hotfix through their driver selection system. The latest version I believe is 10.2, and the single download includes both the drivers and the Catalyst Control Center, as well as some other tools. It installs all of these at once, so it's a speedy process. Also, it requires .NET Framework version 2.0 or later, so if you are running on a fresh install of Windows like me, you will probably need to download that as well.
All said, I've gotten it all working just fine, and now I only need a RAM upgrade for my desktop to truly scream. I recommended this card for all you users working with an aging desktop without the newer PCI-E interface. Hope this reveiw helps you all out.

Great product for the price!!! Mar 30, 2010
By Caliente Carlito Purchases this video card to replace the third party video card that came with my Dell. Wanted to be able to allow my monitor to reach its full potential without putting a huge hole in my wallet. The video card does a great job. Disappointed in the fact that the video card did not have the picture on the card but doesn't really matter since it is in the computer and would never been seen regardless. Recommend for anyone who wants to upgrade their video card at a reasonable price.

NIce upgrade Aug 08, 2011
By Tech Needed more graphics capability. For the price, this is a very good unit. Plug in replacement. Keep in mind that you may need to upgrade your PC power supply to meet the specs for this graphics card. Recommended.
Good card when it doesnt crash comp Mar 07, 2011
By SteveP Well after about 30 hours of messin around with drivers for this card from sapphire's site and from ati's site still cant get this card working right. When it does work i get nice FPS on lower settings in WOW. Sometimes it will work for 8-10 hours straight, sometimes it will crash comp, sometimes it will turn monitor black and stop feeding video signal, sometimes screen will freeze up and puter will restart. This is one of your "you wont know whats gonna happen till it happens" cards. I have read multiple threads on multiple sites and it seems to be happening to alot of people. Not sure if its the cards fault or motherboards that are AGP that the chipset just isnt made to handle this card. Just sad after spending like 70 bucks for this card i've almost thrown it at a wall multiple times
