Description

Neurons in Action 2 is the second version of a unique CD-ROM-based learning tool that combines hyperlinked text with NEURON simulations of laboratory experiments in neurophysiology. Version 2 features nine new tutorials introducing new channel types, single-channel simulations, and a redesigned interface. Neurons in Action s moving graphs provide insight into nerve function that is simply not possible with conventional, static text and figure presentations. Students discover how changing parameters such a neuronal geometry, ion concentrations, ion channel densities, and degree of myelination affects the generation of action potentials, synaptic potentials, and the spread or propagation of voltages within a neuron. For instructors, minimovies of NEURON simulations are provided for use in lectures.

This multimedia package is a succes at the didactic and graphic level. Perfect to introduce undergraduates to electrophysiology.

3Neurons in Action...  Jul 04, 2011 By bionerd3480
I bought this book/CD for a neuroscience calls that I'm taking. The tutorials are alright but when trying to figure them all out on your own it kinda sucks. The direction are clear however, it doesn't really point you into the right direction about what you are supposed to be learning a lot of the time. It goes over the basics but not indepth.

3Good Software  Sep 22, 2008 By T. Harrison
I'm not an expert - I just got it for a class. We haven't really used it yet, but it seems user-friendly and informative.

1cracked CD & slow ship  Oct 10, 2008 By P. Yuan
I spent more than 10 days waiting for the book, but very very disappointed when I received it -- not only because of the slow shipping, but more important is, the CD has a crack on it. You know, it is brand new! Although the CD was readable, I am still very angry. I paid full price for the book and CD, but got a set with significant flaw.
