Description

Neurology is primarily characterized by a variety of diseases which seem very similar and are therefore difficult to distinguish between. Skill at differential diagnosis is therefore absolutely paramount.

Neurological Differential Diagnosis is a streamlined handbook of prioritized differential diagnosis, to be used both in clinical practice and for exam review.

By presenting differential diagnosis in order of frequency and importance, this book provides a practical handbook for clinicians in training, as well as a potential resource for quick board review. Whilst the book covers the most important syndromes and disease entities, readers are referred to other texts for more exhaustive differentials. By limiting differentials in this way - to the most likely and most serious diagnoses - the reader can more easily recall relevant disease processes when faced with a particular clinical situation, whether it be a patient in the emergency room or a difficult question on the board examination.

The book specifically targets neurology residents and fellows, with overlap to neurosurgery and psychiatry. Internal medicine physicians with an interest in neurological problems and medical students looking for an edge in clinical neuroscience would also benefit from this text.

The content is primarily mid-level material, in a pedagogic format.

In order to organize the students' thought processes concise tables and line drawing templates are included. The book is organized into broad chapters by type of disorder and some overlap occurs between particular chapters.

5Neurology Ddx - Great book for residency  Mar 04, 2008 By VRP
The prioritized approach is fantastic. While I am on service, I keep this book and Blumenfelds' "Neuroanatomy through clinical cases", and Localization in Neurology (Brazis, Biller) in the conference room for us to reference before rounds. It's a great book. One way to improve the book would be to include percentage-likelihood numbers from large case series to include in the prioritized approach.

5very good armamentarium when facing patients with unusual presentations  Dec 18, 2009 By Hossam Ahmed Azmy "The neurolocalizer"
this is a very good armamentarium when facing patients with unusual presentations, and also with the common presentations, it presents very good approach with common causes on the top of the list, it may also add tips on every differential diagnosis, it helpes much when you feel loaded with information and want to prioritorize your approach and sharpen your diagnostic accumen.

2Poor book for Kindle  Oct 05, 2008 By H. Gomez
DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK FOR KINDLE VERSION.
You are unable to do any search with the kindle book. I called the kindle representative, Enrique who stated that not all kindle books allow you to search specific items. NOT TRUE- this is not what is stated in the kindle manual when you purchase this. He also said that the cheaper the book the less likely it would be able to search or to localize a word. Also not true- I bought a kindle book for $7- twenty times cheaper than this useless book and am able to search what I want with no problems.
More than likely this book has not been properly processed for kindle. Extremely misleading for kindle users. I have returned this book with my money back.
The morale of this story is whatever kindle you buy make sure it does what it is supposed to do!
Note to amazon- You need to check the books processed for kindle before selling them.
Thanks
An unhappy customer, Little Rock, AR
