The HP DV7 is such a laptop! Apr 14, 2011

After much searching, I ordered a H.P. Dv7-1023cl in 2009. I never got around to reviewing it until now (4/2011) but it has been just AWESOME! If you ever have a chance to pick up a DV7-1000 sereies laptop, go for it. Most include still current hardware such as;
an Intel P7350 (2.0 GHz 1066Mhz 3MB L2) processor, whichI easily upgraded to a T9600 (2.8 GHz 1066MHz 6MB L2), came with 4 GB DDR2 RAM which was easily upgraded to 8GB, BD-ROM combo drive, 17" (1440x900) display with Nvidia 9600m GT w/512MB GDDR2 or 3(easily overclockable), and the best part is the entertainment factor. It has a media remote control w/built-in Infrared receiver, Altec Lansing speakers including a subwoofer, touch sensative media controls & descent battery life ( about 3 hrs or spring for an extra 9-cell for 6-7 hrs). There isn't a game or application I can't run on this baby even two years later. HP support is okay to good, but the computer is really easy to diagnose if you ever have a problem. The website has regular BIOS & driver updates as well as many manuals including a very easy to follow 'Service Manual' for disassembling the laptop for upgrades, repairs and component replacements.
If you're looking for a gaming laptop at half the price, find a HP DV7-1000 series on Amazon or other site and get it!

HP Pavilion DV7-1450US 17-Inch Entertainment Laptop I've only had it a month, but it works great. Shipping was fast and product was refurbished but looked new. Actually it was better than expected as the Ad described it as having a 320 gig hard drive and it had a 500 gig drive. I bought it primarily for the Blu-ray player. When it arrived the first thing I did is pop in a Blu-ray DVD and Bingo, it played perfectly right out of the box. That's what I was looking for. My past Blu-ray players in desktops required the purchase of expensive software to make them work. This is a great laptop at a great price.
