Great vest! Aug 31, 2011
By Shaybly I was happy with this vest for the price. It got a little tight if I put too much stuff in all the pockets though. If you are between sizes, get the larger.

Pockets, Pockets, Pockets Aug 31, 2011
By Ed Just starting to learn fly fishing. On the front of this vest there are nine pockets and four medium size zipper pouches. Inside there are seven pockets, one medium size and two large zippered pouches. On the back, two medium and one huge zippered pouches. There are also two hooks on the front and one neck high middle back to hang things on. This vest is everything I wanted, I'm very happy with it and would recommend it. Delivery was very quick.

Fly Fishing Vest Sep 21, 2011
By Bill I bought this for a trip to Yellowstone park and I was very pleased. It was everything I thought it would be and as described. It didn't help me catch any fish but, I guess that's on me.

5+ years of use May 09, 2011
By Jordan Had a very very similar vest from this company that was from about 5 years ago and is still serving it's purpose. Not only has it worked well for myself but also for my dad and my uncle. They both have the same vest and none of us have had any problems. This year I did decide to go with a newer vest just to have something different and because my vest had lots of blood stains where I kept the fish in the back pocket. Highly recommended for any fisherman.

First vest Apr 05, 2012
By Becket I'm just starting to learn fly-fishing. I'm wary of spending a lot of money because I've no experience to base my decisions. Thus, this vest, purchased at Amazon, was perfect for me as a first vest. It has features common to many middle grade vests sold by Orvis and LL Bean. I can buy it, wear it until I develop preferences based on experience and hang it in a closet with little regret. I wish I knew a kid to give it to.
If you're new to fly-fishing ignore the size of the vest and remember that it will be your tackle box. You will need room for at least two fly-boxes, one for wets, one for dry flies, tools, a small first aid kit, leaders, tippets etc. A list worth considering is provided in chapter 10 of the "LL Bean Ultimate Book of Fly Fishing."
This vest is a little on the short size in length. This is for wading. I think the zippers are too small and should be sturdier. There are some pockets that look good but baffle me, expect this. The vest does have a snap in the center for closing the vest. I like this more than the zipper. My biggest regret is not getting an Xlarge instead of a large size. If this were clothing instead of a tackle box, large would have been a good fit. What will fail first? I bet the zippers.
Overall, I rate the vest four stars and consider it to be money well spent. It will give me all the experience I need before I consider Orvis, LL Bean, Simms, and Fish Pond vests - if, in fact I even have to. There are chest packs and lanyards on the market that are appealing. The first consideration for the new vest will be mesh construction. It's hot in Virginia.
Today is 11 May 2012. I've fished with the vest a few times and it has not disappointed me. There are a couple of pockets that seem to fit nothing. The big things about comfort are mesh construction and a neoprene collar, still, these features are not enough for me to put the current vest aside. Oh, bass lures, one reference recommends using needle nose pliers to compress the barbs on these lures. Be careful, when you hang these lures on your vest to dry, they are easy to fall off without the barbs.
