5Great ASUS Updated system  Dec 17, 2010 By Big-D
I just recently purchased this little Asus for my wife to use. It came pre-loaded with Windows 7 and because the 1016P-BU17-BK is new from Asus, it came loaded with lots of goodies, like 3.0 usb, a faster and more reliable processor, standard with 2 mg ram and Win 7. I also own a Asus PC 1000 I've used for three years and this new netbook has a much better look and the keyboard is much more solid than what I have on my 1000. The 1016 seems thinner and lighter and although it is lacking the SSD like my 1000, it boots up just as fast and shuts down fast also. The wireless seems to work much better than my 1000 also, because it does not lose its connection like my 1000 does.

I rate this little netbook 5-Stars.

5Works as advertised  Dec 28, 2010 By Otter
I purchased this unit to take with me on an emergency trip to the UK due to a death in the family. I needed something lightweight to travel with for email, web surfing and simple word processing. It performed flawlessly straight out of the box. Additionally, I used it for video conferencing (via Google Chat) with my spouse. This was from a WiFi hot spot at a cafe with no issues. The included power supply handles both US (110 volt) and UK (240 volt) AC power, with the appropriate wall socket adapter of course. Simply put,it does exactly what it was designed to do, with no frills.

5love my net!  Feb 20, 2011 By DC
I am so pleased with my netbook. I did a lot of research before I decided to buy this one. I manage a Cafeteria & wanted something that would be smaller & lighter in weight to use than my currant laptop. This one is perfect for me. It has enough ram & storage for all my work. Of course the screen is smaller than your normal laptop, but I love the fact the battery last so much longer then my currant (Toshiba) laptop. Never have a problem with finishing what I need to do on it before I need to recharge the battery. This is what mattered the most to me. Info stated 13 hrs. of battery; I typically get 10-12 hrs. with no problems. My Asus EE comes with 2GB Ram, 320 Hard drive, plus Windows 7 Professional. Don't fool with buying a netbook & upgrading the ram and adding Windows 7. This guy comes with everything ready to go on it. The outside case is great too, you don't have to worry about fingerprints. Everything about this netbook is great, I can highly recommend it!

4So far so good  Jan 12, 2011 By Manny
Wow, it's smaller and thinner than I imagined but that's a good thing- so far. The black color has a light brushed metal texture. You can barely see fingerprints or smudges unlike the flat shiny types. The printed material on this netbook is very thin. There was no "quick start" or "before you begin" material either. I did read it requires I do a full 8 hour charge on the battery before regular use. It's charging right now. I'm excited.

Update: 24 hours later
I've charged up the battery and started my tests. To test the screen, I changed the desktop background image to a solid dark gray. The matte, non-glossy screen is amazingly easy on the eyes. No glare or shine of any kind. However, I've noticed one pixel not working correctly near the upper left corner. It was annoying. The dead pixel went away after I rebooted. The Windows 7 Pro version is great! I'll have to get used to the smaller chiclet keys but they seem to work well. The USB ports were hard to use probably because they were new. Gently, I hooked up my Logitech mouse nano receiver which works fine. Tests continue.

5Surprisingly Competent Little Machine  Sep 12, 2010 By Foerster "Fourstar"
For such a small package, this unit provides a full work machine in a netbook package - sips power and while not lightning fast, it definitely does the job! Extremely light and portable machine with most all the bells 'n whistles of the bigger notebooks for a quarter or half the price.
