| | Description | The paperback edition of Daniel H. Pink's groundbreaking book, A Whole New Mind. Described by reviewers as "an audacious and powerful work," "a profound read," "right on the money," and "a miracle," the book reveals the six abilities individuals must master in an outsourced and automated world. Several publications named A Whole New Mind one of the best business books of 2005. It is now being translated into 12 languages -- and will appear across Europe and Asia in 2006. For this updated and expanded edition, Pink has added dozens of new tools, tips, and exercises to help individuals and organizations sharpen their right-brain capacities. Find out why Thomas L. Friedman, author of the mega-bestseller The World is Flat, calls A Whole New Mind his "favorite business book." | |

Perspectives on Analytical Thinking & Leadership Sep 05, 2010 There is a very unique perspective on analytical thinking and leadership in these pages...
Daniel Pink says, "storytelling doesn't replace analytical thinking. It supplements it by enabling us to imagine new perspectives and new worlds. Abstract analysis is easier to understand when seen through the lens of a well-chosen story" (pg 108).
In my opinion, leadership is the right brain activity that acts as the powerful multiplier of analytical tools, and applications are the stories that act as the magnifying lens. However, leadership is a multi-faceted and oft-misunderstood discipline, one in which the leader must always grow and continue to develop. Leadership has, thus far, managed to avoid accurate description by any analytical model, but these models have revealed some interesting characteristics of the science of leadership. One of the key elements of leadership is relationships. Dan suggests that the successful, "whole mind" thinker of the twenty-first century will focus on "forging relationships rather than executing transactions, tackling novel challenges instead of solving routine problems, and synthesizing the big picture rather than analyzing a single component" (pg 40).
Since this is a book that challenges the logical paradigms of traditional knowledge workers, I will not perform my normal analysis (the 5Ws), but I do recommend it to leaders and analytical thinkers alike.
Interesting topic, fast read Sep 05, 2010 This book is a fast read, considering its interesting concepts on where the future of business is moving. Type of book you will definitively want to pass on and continue discussing with others. Great condition, fast shipping.
ILUMINATING AND, SADLY, VERY TRUE Aug 31, 2010 He is right. It looks like that this will be the reality in the future. The open question is only what will happen to the majority of the word population who is left brain dominated. Can the future word be populated only by artists and people able to syntetize? Where from will they take the data to be sytetized? What will happen, in the future, to the left brain directed people? Will they all have to be born in Asia and continue for centuries, to receive low wages?
Excellent condition and delivery Aug 20, 2010 This book was quickly delivered and in excellent condition. I look forward to useing you again in the future.

Left me with a whole new mind! Aug 08, 2010 While the notion of left-brain vs. right-brain wasn't new, Daniel Pink explores in depth, the implications of the differences. I particularly liked this book because it put a new perspective on many things that I used to find irrational or random. Rather, I see these as reality and logical progressions now. This in turn, has provided me with a broad framework within which to connect dots that I would have otherwise dismissed as arbitrary because they were not on the same plane.
It's kind of left me with a whole new mind. I would definitely recommend this to anyone that has to constantly deal with different individuals and personalities - whether at work, home or in social contexts.
