| | Description | A near-fatal car accident left Jennifer Field
with a traumatic brain injury at the age of 17.
Through the autobiographical one-woman
show "A Distant Memory" Jennifer shares
her journey of hope and recovery. Brain injury survivors identify with the struggles of Jennifer and her family and draw hope and inspiration from the autobiography of the successful brain injury rehabilitation and recovery of Jennifer Field. She serves as a conference keynote speaker before brain injury caregivers and rehabilitation specialists who are moved by the inspirational determination and dedication she has shown throughout her rehabilitation and recovery to build a meaningful life after her accident.
A Distant Memory is a critically acclaimed, autobiographical one-woman show that enjoyed an extended run at The Ruskin Group Theatre in Los Angeles in 2005 and has since been taken on the road to colleges and rehabilitation facilities throughout the country, and is now on DVD.
Audiences are taken on her inspirational fight for physical independence. Determined and unwilling to give up, Jennifer ignored her doctor's prognosis and with the help of her loving and dedicated Mother, Joanne Field, combed the globe in search of treatments and therapies that would help her regain her life. The slow and often despairing journey took every ounce of strength and commitment they had.
Jennifer outlines four rehabilitation treatments she found most helpful in the rehabilitation of her Traumatic Brain Injury and how these helped her regain a productive life.
Jennifer now leads a full life helping other brain injury survivors via the J Field Foundation. Jennifer speaks at Brain Injury related events as a keynote speaker, and performs her show at schools and smaller venues. The proceeds benefit the J Field Foundation which helps others brain injury survivors. Jennifer's true story and successful therapies are all in this A Distant Memory DVD, and all proceeds go to the J Field Foundation. | |

An Inspiration for all of us! Dec 01, 2009

"Composer"
I composed the music for this show, "A Distant Memory" by actress, speaker and artist, Jennifer Field. Seventeen years ago, Jennifer was in a horrific car accident that left her in a coma and unable to walk or talk. The doctors said she'd basically be a vegetable. Well, they were wrong. After fifteen years of traveling all over the world working with an amazing array of therapies, she's recovered and now touring with her one woman show, "A Distant Memory". The show chronicles her courageous, fifteen year quest to get her life back. Before the accident she had been a champion equestrian rider. She also has started a foundation to help inspire and inform victims of traumatic brain injuries and help those that can't afford the alternative therapies that helped her. This show is an major inspiration for anyone who has dealt with recovering from a serious injury, as well as the rest of us that deal with the challenges of everyday life. Check it out!

"Relationship Economics"
I met Jennifer this past weekend and she was kind enough to share this DVD with me. I was inspired by her amazing story - it's one of sheer determination and tenacity to overcome a tragic accident, and in the process, to rewrite the rest of the chapters in her life. Her one woman show is ideal for anyone who is attempting to illustrate human resilience, a mother's love and dedication in progress vs. perfection, and overcoming the difference between something happening to us and what we choose to do about it moving forward. I'd highly recommend this DVD - and this person.
